3 Months Old

Sorry this is late, but I wanted to wait for Emma's 3 month pictures!  On May 4th Emma turned 3 months old and we can not believe how much she has grown.  Our friends recently had a little boy who weighed more than Emma at birth, but seems so small now compared to Emma.  I look back at pictures of Emma only a few weeks old and I can not believe how big she is already!  Kent and I have had so much fun watching Emma change over the past 3 months.

Emma at 3 Months:
- She loves to talk and growl
- Holds her head up while sitting and during tummy time
- She finally found her hands and loves to suck on them
- She likes to sit in her bumbo chair!  While visiting our friend Micah we put Emma in the bumbo chair and she absolutely loved it, so mommy had to buy one!
- Stares at her feet while sitting in her bouncy chair
- She loves to watch Walle
- Blows spit bubbles
- She likes to look at the pictures in books!
- She loves to watch TV (even though we try not to let her)
- She loves bath time
- Enjoys listening to mommy sing - You Are My Sunshine
- Smiles when mommy kisses her feet

Things we LOVE:
- Mommy likes to rock Emma
- Daddy likes to read stories to Emma
- Mommy  loves to kiss Emma's feet
- We both love when we smile at Emma she smiles back
- Mommy likes that she is beginning to be able to hold Emma on her side
- We love that she can sit with us at the dinner table in her bumbo chair
- Daddy loves when Emma holds onto his finger
-  Most of all we love that we have such a healthy little girl!

Sick + Infant = HARD

Well, a week ago today I came down with a very bad flu like sickness.  We are still not sure what I had, but all I know it was absolutely awful!  This was the first time I have been sick and had to take care of Emma by myself and let me tell you it is not easy!  I am sure all you mom's out there already new this, but this has been one of my fears about being a mother!  How will I handle being really sick and having to take care of a child without Kent around?  Well, I did!  I felt really bad for Emma though since every time I moved my body hurt, so I did not hold her a bunch and I was afraid of giving her what I had.  Luckily I have the most amazing child.  Emma was very calm and patient with me while I was sick and I am so thankful she has not come down with what I had.  I also am very thankful for my wonderful husband who came home his first day of work to a very messy house, no dinner, and a very sick wife and still took care of me!  He also brought me flowers to cheer me up!  I am so lucky to have such a beautiful daughter and a very loving and patient husband!!!!  I love you very much and thank God for you and Emma every day!

Family Photos

While my dad was visiting for Kent's graduation and Emma's dedication I arranged for us to have family photos done!  I was referred to Cali Jenae Photography and absolutely loved her work.  She did an amazing job and I would highly recommend her for anyone wanting photos taken in Eastern Washington!  Here are a few of my favorites!

Emma's First Picnic

With having only a few days of sunshine and 60-70 degree weather, Kent and I thought it would be nice to take my dad and Emma to Boyer Park on the Snake River.  We had a late start, but we made it there and the weather was absolutely perfect!  After our picnic Kent and my dad played Boche Ball, while Emma and I took a nap!  I laid  in the sun and Kent built a nice shaded area for Emma!  We also took a walk to the beach and Emma put her feet in the sand and water!  She wasn't quite sure what to think of it, but she seemed curious about how the sand felt in her toes!  Hopefully we will have more sunny and 70 degree days soon!

Sportin the shades Great Grandma Dayton bought for her!

Getting ready to put our toes in the sand!

Hmm... This feels funny in my toes!

She seems to like the beach!

Emma's Dedication

On Sunday, May 8th we celebrated Emma's dedication.  She wore the dress Grandma G bought her for her dedication!  During the dedication Kent and I promised to dedicate our lives in raising Emma to know Jesus Christ.  Thank you to our family, friends and church for also dedicating themselves in supporting Kent and I in helping Emma to know Jesus.  We are so grateful to have such wonderful family, friends, and church!

 Emma Mae

During the dedication Pastor Terry asked our family, friends and church body to stand up if they would support Kent and I in raising Emma to know Jesus! We are so blessed!

Pastor Terry wrote Emma a letter that we will give to her on the day she chooses to accept Jesus Christ into her life and is Baptized!

Kent's Graduation

YEAH for graduation!!!  Finally, Kent has graduated.  Emma and I are so proud of him and all of his hard work.  We are very excited though that he is done and that we are entering a new chapter in our lives.  As Kent goes back to work Emma will definitely miss having daddy around during the day and I will miss having the extra help.  But we are happy that Kent is finally going to be working and hopefully doing what he loves to do.  After graduation we had a a BBQ with our friends and family.  We are so grateful for all of our family and friends who have supported Kent and I throughout these past 5 years in Pullman.  Thanks for celebrating Kent's big day!!!

Emma's Tummy Time Friends

Every morning after Emma has breakfast she has tummy time with either Kent or me.  Kent is usually the one to have tummy time with Emma since I am usually getting ready for the day.  During tummy time we set up her friends on Emma's blanket so she can look at her toys.  Lately she has started reaching for her toys in an attempt to touch them.  While Emma has her tummy time Kent has been giving Emma's friends names.  When I realized Kent was naming Emma's friends I couldn't help but laugh.  I found it very cute that Kent was helping Emma name her toys.  Now every time Emma has tummy time I can't help, but smile when Kent talks about Emma's friends by their names!

We would like to introduce to you Emma's Tummy Time Friends:

Dolly Pattern

Billy

Cookie Monster

Gerald

Bee Boo
(named after the Belly Button book.
The hippos call their belly buttons Bee Boos)

Connie who bought this doll for Emma)

Bloomsday 2011

For the past 3 years Kent and I have been traveling to Spokane and participating in Bloomsday.  Last year Kent was very busy with remodeling a room, so we could move into our apartment on time so he was unable to attend, but this year the entire family including Emma walked in Bloomsday.  We met up with our friends Molly & Eric, Lauren, and of course the Sander family.  The past two years I have ran in Bloomsday, however this year having Emma and being out of shape we walked.  It was definitely a very different experience walking with tons of strollers.  Not sure if I like the stroller section, but once we moved quickly through the stroller crowd, it was a little less overwhelming and crowded.

This year I was a little nervous!  I was not sure how Emma would do!  Well, we definitely have a very calm and easy going baby girl.  She slept in the beginning and was awake for the majority of Bloomsday.  She did amazing!  We stopped once to feed her and she was very content the entire time.  I actually think Emma did much better than I did!  Even though we had lots of fun walking, I never realized that walking could make me so sore!  I have not been that sore in a long time.  Kent also did much better than I did, but since we both forgot to put on sunscreen we both got sun burned.
Overall, we had tons of fun and finished Bloomsday!!! Through all the aches, burns, and pains we made it to the finish line and received our Bloomsday T-shirts.  Emma even has one she will be able to wear when she is 5 years old!!!  I still think they should make t-shirts or onsies for the very young ones!

She wanted to be well rested so she could beat all of the other 3 month old!
