Happy Anniversary!

As of August 1, 2012 Kent and I have been married for 3 years.  I am still kind of shocked at how fast the last 3 years have gone by.  We have done so much as a married couple these last three years, I got my Masters in Teaching degree, Kent graduated with his Bachelor's in Construction Management, and we were blessed with the most beautiful little girl.  I definitely look forward to what God has in store for our future.  This year Kent and I were going to spend our anniversary in Seattle, however our plan had to change do to work.  So, we did not get to actually spend our anniversary together, but Kent was very sweet and bought me flowers.  Here are a few of my favorite moments of our wedding day!

Kent, thanks for a wonderful 3 years and I look forward to many more anniversaries! I love you!

The Zoo

The zoo is quickly becoming one of Emma's favorite places to go.  She absolutely loves animals and what better place to see animals then at the zoo?  Well, we would love to see animals in the wild, however for an 18 month old her patience level is not quite long enough to wait around in the woods just to see animals.  So, the zoo is the next best thing.  We have been to the zoo three times since Emma has been born.  You would think it would get old, however every time we go, there seems to be new animals to see.  During this visit to the zoo we had the chance to see the Red Wolf Pups, the camels, and watched the live animal show at the Wild Wonders Outdoor Theater.  We definitely look forward to our next visit!

During our last visit the Polar Bears were hiding, so we were very excited to see them out sun bathing!

I like to think the sea otter was playing peek-a-boo with Emma, but I am pretty sure he was just cleaning himself.

And of course before we leave the Zoo we have to play in the water!

Northwest Trek

During our visit with family and friends, Emma and joined my cousin Craig, his children, and my aunts and spent the day at Northwest Trek.  I am amazed at the number of places and things I have not been to or seen while growing up in Western Washington.  Northwest Trek Wildlife Park is home to many animals including elk, deer, mountain goats, moose, bison, big horn sheep etc.  While visiting Northwest Trek we took a 50 minute tram tour where we saw many of the animals listed above.  We also took the walking tour where we saw many other animals.  Some day I would like to go back and try the zip line.  It looked like it would be pretty fun, but I did not wear the appropriate attire!

Chad & Brooke's Wedding

Well, after my family reunion potluck Kent and I headed to a wedding.  Kent's cousin Chad and his fiance Brooke were married Saturday, July 28 at 5:00pm.  I wish I could say Kent and I made it to the wedding, but my grandmother's memorial and the potluck ran late, so we sadly missed the wedding.  However, we did make it for the reception and after party!  After eating the delicious food and dessert it was time to play.  Emma enjoyed spending time with her cousins, grandparents, and of course her Auntie Lo Lo (Laura) on the swing set and in the sandbox.  The happy couple looked amazing and we are so happy for their growing family! Congratulations Chad and Brooke!

Mariners Game

So, after the reunion, memorial, and wedding our weekend was not quite over.  Emma and I headed to Seattle for a Mariners game.  My cousin Craig and his two children came up for a visit from California for a week, so my dad's family got together for a Mariners game.  After our very cold experience last time we were very thankful to be sitting directly in the sun.  Emma had a blast hanging out with her cousins Cortney, Colton, and Sawyer.  She seemed to be pretty smitten with Colton, which was very cute to watch.  We were very glad to see Craig and the kids and look forward to their next visit.

Speer Family Reunion 2012

Every year my mom's family gets together for a very large family reunion in Olympia, WA.  Most of the family comes for the potluck on Saturday, but there are also many that spend the entire weekend camping.  This year Kent, Emma and I were able to attend the camp out and had lots of fun catching up with family members we do not get to see very often.  This year was also a little different than in the past.  With my grandma passing away recently, my family decided to have her memorial after the potluck so that way the entire family could attend.  It was very casual, filled with lots of stories, a few tears, but mostly laughter.  Grandma we love and miss you, but are happy you are at peace!
