Victorian Tea

Every year our church puts on a Victorian Tea for women.  I have always hesitated in going to this event since I am not a big fan of tea, however this year I decided I should go.  Emma tagged along with me and we had a lot of fun!  We sat at our hosts Jenny and Molly's table along with our friends Kristin, Angie, Mya, Marcie, and Amye.  Apparently for the Victorian Tea the host(s) of each table choose a theme and decorate the table accordingly.  Jenny and Molly did an amazing job decorating our table in an Easter theme.  I wish I had arrived earlier to the tea and taken pictures of the table, but having a 2 month old tends to make me late to events.

During the tea we ate delicious scones, desserts, and mini sandwiches.  I opted out of drinking tea and joined Mya (Jenny's 7 year old daughter) in drinking apple juice!  There was also live music which included a violinist and a harpist.  Throughout the Victorian Tea the women placed bids on the baskets that were put together by very generous people.  All of the proceeds from the baskets went to Care Net of the Palouse which is a Christian organization that provides support to persons facing pregnancy, parenting, sexuality and abortion related issues.  So not only were the proceeds going to a wonderful organization, but there were some amazing baskets including movie night baskets, baking and cooking baskets, gardening baskets and my favorite the Tea for Two basket.  The Tea for Two basket included mother/daughter aprons, a cookie cook book, and a gorgeous tea set.  Of course Emma and I placed a bid on the Tea for Two basket.  As soon as I saw this basket I fell in love with it.  I hope someday Emma and I will be able to bake delicious cookies and have tea together (that is if she wants to).

Now that I have attended my first Victorian Tea I hope Emma and I will be able to come back and visit Pullman and attend this event every year.  Since I do not have any pictures of the tables I took a few of the Tea for Two basket and of some of the table decorations.

This sat on our plate when we arrived at the tea.

This is the tea set in the basket that I won.  I can't wait to have tea with Emma!

2 Months Old

Today Emma turned 2 months old!  Kent and I can not believe how much she has been changing and growing this past month.  Though I wish Emma wouldn't grow up too fast I know that time will fly and before Kent and I know it she will be in college.  But for now we are trying to savor every moment including the little things.  Kent told me the other day one of his favorite things that she does now is how Emma puts her arm across his chest when he holds her on his shoulder.

Emma at 2 months:
- She stares at lights and shadows.  In the past 2 weeks she began staring at mommy and daddy!
- She loves to smile at mommy and has started smiling for daddy!
- Emma makes the funniest faces (sticking her toungue out at you).
- Her favorite thing to do is sit in her bouncy chair and kick her birdie!
- She has started to roll onto her side.
- Most recently she has been sleeping for 7-9 hours at night!
- When mommy and daddy talk to her she will coo and talk back!
- Before she goes to sleep she loves to listen to stories!
- She seems to be very interested in Walle!

Things we LOVE:
- Kent loves when Emma holds onto him when he carries her on his shoulder.
- I love when she smiles at me.  When I do not feel good or am tired all she has to do is smile and it makes me feel so much better!
- She is sleeping 7-9 hours at night.  Apparently she loves her sleep just like her mommy!
- Emma is starting to interact and play with us!
- I love spending time with her in the monrings during tummy time!

1 Month Old

One of the gifts I recieved from my friend Kailyn wass a set of onsies that say 1 month, 2 month up to 12 months.  So, when Emma turned 1 month old we had our friends Molly and Eric take pictures of Emma in her 1 month onesie.  Even though it was a little big we were still able to get some cute pictures.

Emma at 1 month:
- She was still sleeping quite a bit, but she began to be more alert and awake in the mornings.
- We found that she loved to suck on our fingers, so we decided it was time to give her a pacifier since she would get frustrated trying to suck her own thumb/fingers.

Things We LOVE about Emma at 1 month!

I LOVE watching Emma sleep with her daddy!
We LOVE Emma's feet!
I LOVE snuggling with Emma!
We LOVE watching Emma sleep!

We LOVE Emma's beautiful eyes!

Working Out

So, now that I have the official OK to work out again I have been trying to get into an exercise routine.  Until a few weeks ago I did not realize how out of shape I actually was.  I can not remember a time I was ever this out of shape and one of my goals this year is to not necessarily lose all of the extra weight, but to be healthier and get back into shape (though of course I would love to lose all of the extra weight and maybe a little more).

Kent and I have started using the Wii Active II game and what a work out.  I bought it thinking it would be good for getting back into working out and wouldn't be much of a challenge.  Well I was very wrong.  I would highly recommend this!  I am not sure if it would be that challenging for someone who is already in shape, but for those of us who are not in shape it really gets you sweating.  Another part of our exercise routine that we are trying to get into is walking/running 2-3 times a week.  So, far Kent and I have been able to get outside twice.  But with the rainy weather it makes it kind of difficult with the little one to get outside.  Finally, something I tried this week was Zumba which was amazing.  Though at times I felt like I had no clue what I was doing, I definitely think it is a fun way to exercise.

So, hopefully with the Wii Active, walking/running, and Zumba once or twice a week Kent and I will be able to get back into shape and be able to set a good example for Emma as she gets older, so that she will hopefully realize how important it is to be active whether it be exercising or playing sports. But, I don't think we will have a hard time with this since Emma has already begun to join in on our exercise routine.  While I do the Wii active in the mornings Emma sits in her bouncy chair and does her own exercise routine.  Below is a video of Emma exercising her little legs.

Spring Break

Kent and I spent the lat week visiting friends and family. We had a great time and are very glad we were able to see most of our friends and family. It is always hard to try and see everyone we would like in one week, but I think we did a pretty good job (for those of our friends and family who we did not see and were unable to meet Emma I will be home end of June beginning of July with Emma).

During out trip home we drove down to Olympia, WA to visit Great Grandma and Grandpa Grunenfelder and Great Grandma Dayton.  Emma slept most of the time we were visiting and was very cozy in her Great Grandparents' arms!

We also traveled to Seattle to visit my cousin Josh, Caitlin and their new bundle of joy Sawyer.  Sawyer and Emma were suppose to be almost a month apart, however Sawyer decided his mommies tummy was too cozy to come out on time and Emma just couldn't wait to come out.  So, Emma and Sawyer are now only a week apart.

Earlier in the week my mom (Kathy) had an open house for family and friends to come visit and meet Emma.  I was not sure how she would do, but Emma was a trooper.

We also spent the weekend at Kent's parents' house.  Kent's sister Laura had a baby shower for Emma and I on Saturday.  She did an amazing job and we had lots of fun playing the games.  Kent even came up to try the baby food game and see if he could guess what the baby food was.  Below are a few pictures of Emma hanging out at Grandma and Grandpa Grunenfelder's.

Cougar Basketball

After our visit with Annie and Lily our friend's John and Cody invited us to attend the WSU basketball game.  We were not sure how Emma would do, but we thought we would try it and see how it goes.  As I walked into the stadium I was kind of nervous that it would be way to loud for Emma, but the noise didn't phase her one bit.  Emma slept the entire time in the sleepy wrap (the most amazing invention for moms).

We had a lot of fun and I was definitely glad to get out of the house.  While at the game Kent and I realized that this would probably be our last cougar sporting event for a few years!  It was definitely a little sad and are very glad our friends invited us to come.  Kent and I have always enjoyed going to WSU sporting events and last night I remembered why I enjoy them so much.  The fans and the very creative cheers they come up with.  My all time favorite cheer of the game was when a player on the opposing team fouled out and walked back to their seat the fans would chant together in sync with the players foot steps "right, left, right, left" until the player sat down.  As the player sat down the fans would then yell, "sit down".  Very funny to watch especially when the player would stop have way to their seat.  The fans would quit chanting and then begin again as the player began walking.

Emma & Lily

Yesterday my very dear friend Annie and her daughter Lily came over for a visit.  Emma and Lily met for the first time and spent the afternoon sleeping and eating.  There was not a lot of interaction going on, but it was very cute to see them sitting next to each other.  You never really realize how much of a difference 2 months makes in a babies development.  Lily also brought Emma  a present.  Now Emma and Lily have matching headbands.  As you can see below Lily is very interested in staring at the camera whereas Emma doesn't really care!

Emma was more interested in looking at Annie!

Emma almost has her eyes on the camera!

Now atleast they are both facing the camera, but Emma looks a little disgruntled!

After 3 takes we finally have a winner!
