Working Out

So, now that I have the official OK to work out again I have been trying to get into an exercise routine.  Until a few weeks ago I did not realize how out of shape I actually was.  I can not remember a time I was ever this out of shape and one of my goals this year is to not necessarily lose all of the extra weight, but to be healthier and get back into shape (though of course I would love to lose all of the extra weight and maybe a little more).

Kent and I have started using the Wii Active II game and what a work out.  I bought it thinking it would be good for getting back into working out and wouldn't be much of a challenge.  Well I was very wrong.  I would highly recommend this!  I am not sure if it would be that challenging for someone who is already in shape, but for those of us who are not in shape it really gets you sweating.  Another part of our exercise routine that we are trying to get into is walking/running 2-3 times a week.  So, far Kent and I have been able to get outside twice.  But with the rainy weather it makes it kind of difficult with the little one to get outside.  Finally, something I tried this week was Zumba which was amazing.  Though at times I felt like I had no clue what I was doing, I definitely think it is a fun way to exercise.

So, hopefully with the Wii Active, walking/running, and Zumba once or twice a week Kent and I will be able to get back into shape and be able to set a good example for Emma as she gets older, so that she will hopefully realize how important it is to be active whether it be exercising or playing sports. But, I don't think we will have a hard time with this since Emma has already begun to join in on our exercise routine.  While I do the Wii active in the mornings Emma sits in her bouncy chair and does her own exercise routine.  Below is a video of Emma exercising her little legs.

Spring Break

Kent and I spent the lat week visiting friends and family. We had a great time and are very glad we were able to see most of our friends and family. It is always hard to try and see everyone we would like in one week, but I think we did a pretty good job (for those of our friends and family who we did not see and were unable to meet Emma I will be home end of June beginning of July with Emma).

During out trip home we drove down to Olympia, WA to visit Great Grandma and Grandpa Grunenfelder and Great Grandma Dayton.  Emma slept most of the time we were visiting and was very cozy in her Great Grandparents' arms!

We also traveled to Seattle to visit my cousin Josh, Caitlin and their new bundle of joy Sawyer.  Sawyer and Emma were suppose to be almost a month apart, however Sawyer decided his mommies tummy was too cozy to come out on time and Emma just couldn't wait to come out.  So, Emma and Sawyer are now only a week apart.

Earlier in the week my mom (Kathy) had an open house for family and friends to come visit and meet Emma.  I was not sure how she would do, but Emma was a trooper.

We also spent the weekend at Kent's parents' house.  Kent's sister Laura had a baby shower for Emma and I on Saturday.  She did an amazing job and we had lots of fun playing the games.  Kent even came up to try the baby food game and see if he could guess what the baby food was.  Below are a few pictures of Emma hanging out at Grandma and Grandpa Grunenfelder's.

Cougar Basketball

After our visit with Annie and Lily our friend's John and Cody invited us to attend the WSU basketball game.  We were not sure how Emma would do, but we thought we would try it and see how it goes.  As I walked into the stadium I was kind of nervous that it would be way to loud for Emma, but the noise didn't phase her one bit.  Emma slept the entire time in the sleepy wrap (the most amazing invention for moms).

We had a lot of fun and I was definitely glad to get out of the house.  While at the game Kent and I realized that this would probably be our last cougar sporting event for a few years!  It was definitely a little sad and are very glad our friends invited us to come.  Kent and I have always enjoyed going to WSU sporting events and last night I remembered why I enjoy them so much.  The fans and the very creative cheers they come up with.  My all time favorite cheer of the game was when a player on the opposing team fouled out and walked back to their seat the fans would chant together in sync with the players foot steps "right, left, right, left" until the player sat down.  As the player sat down the fans would then yell, "sit down".  Very funny to watch especially when the player would stop have way to their seat.  The fans would quit chanting and then begin again as the player began walking.

Emma & Lily

Yesterday my very dear friend Annie and her daughter Lily came over for a visit.  Emma and Lily met for the first time and spent the afternoon sleeping and eating.  There was not a lot of interaction going on, but it was very cute to see them sitting next to each other.  You never really realize how much of a difference 2 months makes in a babies development.  Lily also brought Emma  a present.  Now Emma and Lily have matching headbands.  As you can see below Lily is very interested in staring at the camera whereas Emma doesn't really care!

Emma was more interested in looking at Annie!

Emma almost has her eyes on the camera!

Now atleast they are both facing the camera, but Emma looks a little disgruntled!

After 3 takes we finally have a winner!

Emma Mae

On February 3, 2011 Kent and I went to my weekly check-up and found out that I was 3 cm dialated and ended up having a non-stress test since I was not feeling my contractions.  The non-stress test showed that Emma was doing fine and that I was having contractions that was causing me to dialate.  The nurse and doctor decided I should be admitted since my contractions were not very strong.  After being in the hospital for about 24 hours Emma Mae was born at 4:31am, weighing 7 lbs and 18 inches long.  These first two weeks have definitely had ups and downs, but we seem to finally be getting into a routine.  Everyone is doing well and we are so thankful for all of our friends and family.  Everyone has done so much for us and we feel so blessed to have you in our lives.  Below are a few pictures of Emma over the past two weeks.

December 2010

December Adventures!
1) After Thanksgiving break Kent and I were very excited that he would be entering his last semester of school soon! During the semester Kent spent lots of time applying for jobs for when he graduates in May! He had an interview with Kewit Northwest prior to Thanksgiving break and during December he interviewed with Central Asphalt in Moses Lake and B&B Construction in Seattle. All of his interviews went very well and prior to New New Years Kent recieved an offer from Kewit Northwest. We are very excited that we have a job lined up for next year and hope that there will be more offers to come!
2) The past two years our friends Jeff and Jenny host a gingerbread house making party prior to Christmas, which is always lots of fun! We always have so much fun visiting with friends and getting to eat such yummy candy!

3) This year Christmas break was surprisingly very calm! Usually when we come home for breaks we are very busy and rushed, so it was nice to relax and not feel so busy. Though our break was calm I spent the entire 2 weeks sick, which was not so much fun! But, we still enjoyed our break visint with friends and family!
4) For New Years we traveled back to Pullman and were suppose to go to our friends New Years party, however not only was I sick, but Kent also ended up getting sick! So, we spent the evening at home, watching movies and eating popcorn! Though it was not the most exciting New Years I was just greatful to be spending it with Kent, since last year Kent and I were apart for New Years! It was amazing to think that 2 years ago on New Years Kent proposed to me!

November 2010

Well, it has been awhile since I have updated our blog. So, I will begin with our adventures in November!

1) Kent spent the first two weeks of November elk hunting with his family near White Pass. Though they did not get any elk Kent had lots of fun spending time with his family.

2) While Kent was hunting with his family I was able to come home to Silverdale and spend time visiting with my family and friends. Usually Kent and I spend Thanksgiving break trying to make sure we visit with our family and friends, however since Kent went hunting I was able to catch up with my family and friends before Thanksgiving, which made Thanksgiving break much more relaxing!

3) The weekend before Thanksgiving Kent and I traveled to Yakima for a Thanksgiving dinner with Kent's parents and sister. Though Kent's truck decided to break while in Yakima, Kent and I had a wonderful time visiting and eating yummy food with his family.

4) During Thanksgiving break my mom threw a baby shower for me and Baby G. My mom did an amazing job planning the baby shower. My aunt Cheryl made my cake which was very delicious! It was great to have so many friends and family come together to celebrate Baby G!!! Below are a few pictures from the shower!

Kent's mom bought us Baby G's dress for her dedication at church!

My mom and Alex bought Kent and I our stroller! We are so excited to go for some walks this spring!

Baby G was very spoiled and recieved many cuddly blankets and stuffed animals! She will have lots of friends to play with!

Everyone playing games!
