Papa & Grandma

A few weeks ago Kent's parents (Papa and Grandma) came over for a visit.  Emma was not sure about Papa and Grandma when she first saw them.  Papa and Grandma were going to take Emma while I went to home group, so we met at Safeway.  She was kind of hesitant at first, but quickly warmed up to them.  After that she couldn't get enough of Papa and Grandma.  While they were visiting Papa helped Kent build Emma's swing set.  Emma was pretty excited to help as well.  She had to make sure she had her own pencil and that she could help tighten the bolts.  She really enjoyed having her grandparents around and absolutely loves the outside lounge chair they bought her.  She is definitely looking forward to our camping trip with Papa and Grandma.

She loves her Hawaiian leis!

Hmm... I don't think Papa and Daddy know what they are doing!
I think I should help!

Papa that is not how you do it! Let me show you!

Boys

After Bloomsday Kent's nephew Andre came to Pullman with us to spend some time with us.  We really enjoyed having him stay with us.  I know Kent wishes he could have spent more time with Andre.  While Kent was at work I had to figure out what a 7 year old boy would like to do.  We decided to head to Sunnyside Park.  We fed the ducks, played on the playground and threw lots of sticks into the pond.  Once Andre was bored, we headed home for lunch.  Once Emma went down for a nap, Andre and I had to figure out something we could do.  Since it was after Bloomsday my feet were extremely sore so I could not really go on a hike with him.  I felt really bad since we do not have a whole lot of toys and activities that a 7 year old boy would enjoy.  But we finally figured something out.  Andre really likes gardening, so we had some flowers that he planted, then he used a piece of ply wood to make a fort.  We camouflaged it with chalk.  Hopefully he had fun even though there was not a whole lot to do.  It was definitely an experience for me, but I really enjoyed having Andre visit.

Bloomsday 2012

For the past 3 years Kent and I have been participating in Bloomsday with our friends Jason, Becky and their children.  This year we were not sure if they would be around for Bloomsday since they are living in Alabama, but we were very excited that Becky and the children were able to be here for Bloomsday.  We were sad that Jason could not be here, but were thankful to spend the day with Becky and the kids.  It is amazing how much children grow in a year.  I was shocked at how much the kids have changed since last May.  We had so much fun with Becky and the kids and we hope they move back to Washington sooner than later.  We love and miss you guys! Thanks for such a fun day!

Emma's First Sleepover

As a gift to our wonderful friends Eric and Molly we paid for them to stay overnight at the Davenport Hotel in Spokane.  We are so grateful to Eric and Molly.  They have done so much for our family and we are glad we could give them this gift. While they were in Spokane Emma had her first sleepover with Micah.  She really enjoyed playing with Micah for an entire day!  They wore the same pj's for their sleepover, watched a movie, took a bath together, and even had a little treat before bed.  Kent and I were not sure how it would go having both of them sleeping in the same room, so we decided to put Emma to bed early and then after she was asleep put Micah to bed.  Surprisingly it worked!  Kent and I were expecting to hear giggles and talking sometime in the night, but no such luck.  They were out for the night.  The next morning however we were woken up by Emma shrieking when she saw Micah in the pack n play next to her crib.  We are pretty sure she woke up him up!  It was pretty cute to listen to them talk and giggle with each other.

Eating cereal while watching some cartoons!

Well, the  next morning we got up ate breakfast and then headed to the Palouse Family Day at Lincoln Middle School.  The city put together a family day of different activities for kids.  The first activity we did was session about eating healthy and exercising for kids.  The children danced and sang songs.  Emma and Micah really enjoyed picking up the play food and dancing until the hound dog and warrior decided to join in on the fun.  They were not a fan, so we decided to head out to the fire trucks.  They both received their very own firefighter hats and stickers.  We tried getting Micah to sit in the fire truck, but he was content with Kent.  Emma however loved sitting in the driver's seat!

I can do it myself!!!

After family day we headed to the park for a picnic and then went to Sweet Mutiny in Pullman for some frozen yogurt and cupcakes.  We had a wonderful day with Micah and Emma!  We will definitely miss the Davis Family when they move!

Happy 60th Birthday Dad!!!

After celebrating my dad's birthday last year I realized he would be turning 60 the following year, so I wanted to do something really special for him.  I started brainstorming ideas and thought it would be fun to invite my uncle's, aunt's and cousins to a Mariner's game to celebrate my dad turning 60.  Almost everyone was able to attend the Mariner's game which was extremely special for my dad.  My dad new I was planning something for his birthday, but had no clue what it was.  The night before the Mariner's game I gave him the tickets and he was very surprised.  He thought Kent and I were taking him on some sort of boat ride and hike somewhere.  Well we did take a boat (the ferry) and more like a brisk walk to the stadium, so he was kind of right.  Well, Kent and I had two more surprises for my dad.  The first being that his brother, sisters, nephew, niece, and great nephew would also be joining us for the game.  The second surprise came after the 2nd inning.  I had a birthday message displayed on the Mariner's reader board for my dad.

I am so blessed to have such a wonderful and supportive dad!
 Love you!

On the ferry, headed to Seattle!  The weather was absolutely amazing!

Well, on our way to the kids zone, we ran into Mariner Moose.
Emma was not a fan!

So, even though the weather was beautiful our seats were in the shade and wind, making it extremely cold! Hence the red nose!

Much happier now that we moved to the third baseline and were sitting in the warm sunshine!

Enjoying the game and the sunshine!

Thanks everyone for coming to the game for my dad's birthday!

Waterfront Park

Since the weather was so nice while visiting my dad we decided we should get outside and enjoy the sunshine.  We headed to the Waterfront Park in Silverdale, which was packed.  Silverdale has done quite a bit with the park and it looks amazing.  Emma played on the slide, the swing, and of course we headed down to the water.  She had lots of fun throwing rocks in the water.  We were very surprised at how warm it actually was down by the water and were wishing we had worn lighter clothing.  Even though it was a little warm it was nice to enjoy the sunshine with the family.

Point Defiance Zoo

While visiting my parents for my dad's 60th birthday my mom and step dad (Alex) took Emma and I to the Point Defiance Zoo.  This was Emma's second time at the zoo, however she seemed to enjoy it a little more since she was much older.  She had lots of fun in the kids zone at the zoo, especially going down the slide.  She also really liked the aquarium and watching all of the fish.  She was a little afraid of the huge sharks swimming by, but it still seemed to be one of her favorite attractions in the zoo.  Emma also really liked the sea otters.  We were lucky enough to watch them eat oysters.  I was amazed at how many oysters these critters can store on their belly's, while they chow down.  We had lots of fun and enjoyed a beautiful day with the grandparents.

Emma viewing her first zoo animal of the day.  She was pretty excited!

Having fun on the slide.  I think she went down 3 or 4 times!

Emma and Grandpa Alex

6 week old baby "itty" (kitty) as Emma put it.

She is not quite as tall as the baby polar bear!  We did not get to see the polar bears since they were hiding behind the rocks.  I was bummed since Emma's favorite stuffed toy is her polar bear.

She had so much fun at the zoo, but was ready to take a nap!
