Dworshak

Last weekend Kent and I went boating with our home group.  We were originally suppose to go boating in Hells Canyon, but with the river being really high it was decided we would go to Dworshak instead.  We had tons of fun.  It was an absolutely gorgeous day, not too hot and not too cold.  Kent's sister came over and babysat Emma for us, so we could enjoy a day in the water.  We are so thankful that she was able to come over.  It was nice to spend a day with Kent and our friends.  Hopefully when Emma is a little older we will be able to take her with us.  Thanks Mike and Lauren for taking us out on your boat and for the delicious lunch.  Thank you to our home group for a great time.  Kent and I are so grateful to have such wonderful friends and are excited that we get to continue to attend our home group!

Who wouldn't be smiling on such a beautiful day!

First 3 to jump in and eventually the rest of us followed!

Father's Day

Well, Kent's first Father's Day did not go as I had hoped.  Emma and I were going to get up and make Kent breakfast in bed, then we were suppose to go to church, then enjoy burgers at the church Father's Day BBQ, and to top the day off I thought we could go for a drive and go shooting (something Kent loves to do).  But, apparently that is not how we were suppose to spend Father's Day.  Instead the truck broke down on Friday, so we couldn't go shooting, then I got sick yesterday, and then Walle came home last night with a big gash in his leg.  So, Kent spent his first Father's Day taking care of me and running Walle to the emergency WSU Vet Hospital.  Even though we did not get to do the things we had originally planned  it was nice to spend some time with Kent and Emma at home before Kent leaves.  Emma and I are so grateful to have Kent in our lives.  Even though this was suppose to be his day to relax he took care of us without any complaints.  We love you Kent very much and appreciate everything you do for us.  Happy Father's Day Kent!!!

Happy Father's Day Daddy!! I love you!

Walle's poor foot!

He is not a big fan of the bandage!

Craft Night

Since we started going to Emmanuel Baptist Church we have been attending a home group once a week.  Since the summer time can get pretty busy our home group is not meeting on a regular basis which is nice, but also kind of a bummer since we really enjoy getting together with our friends for fellowship and studying the Bible.  So, our host, Jenny thought the girls could get together the 2nd Tuesday of June, July and August to do crafts.  Our first get together she put together 12 different cards for us to make.  It was tons of fun getting out of the house and talking with some girlfriends.  I do not get out of the house as much as I would like, so it was very nice for Kent to take care of Emma and let have a girls craft night!  Thanks Jenny for putting together such amazing cards!  I had tons of fun!  Here are a few of my favorites!

Shots!!!

Emma had her 4 month doctors appointment today!  Kent and I had a bet on how much Emma would weigh at her appointment and I won!!! Kent said she would weigh 15 lbs and I said around 12 or 13 lbs.  Well, she officially weighed in at 13 lbs 2 oz. Since I was closer I won!!!  Kent says that I cheated since I didn't feed her and she pooped before we left.  Not my fault she wasn't hungry and pooped!

At her appointment she had to received 2 shots which I was not looking forward to.  I have my own personal fears about shots and injecting liquids into my body so, I can only imagine what it is like to be a baby having to be poked and not know what is going.  While watching her before she got her shots she was sooo happy and I smiled at her the entire time trying to show her she is ok and everything will be fine since she was staring at me like a hawk wondering if what was going on was ok.  Well it didn't work.  Like last time she screamed and cried!  This time though her crying brought tears to my eyes.  Wasn't expecting for that to happen!  I feel so bad for her on these days because she just doesn't feel well.  I told Kent that when Emma has her shots she gets to be spoiled since at this age I feel like there is not a lot that I can do for her.  Hopefully as she gets older and begins to talk she will tell me what hurts and what she needs.

Once we got in the car we gave her some infant Tylenol and that seemed to help calm her down.  Though she has been very sensitive today she is getting lots of rest and has smiled for us.  I would like to think that getting shots as a child gets better but I am guessing the screaming and crying only get worse.  Never thought I would say this, but if I could take the shots for Emma I would!!!

Love you Emma Mae!!!

4 Months Old

Today, Emma turned 4 months old!  We can't believe that it has been 4 months she came into this world!!!  I bought a picture frame that will hold 12 wallet size pictures and 1 5x7 picture to show her growth throughout her first year and we are amazed at how much she has grown since her 1 month picture.  We are so blessed to have such a wonderful little girl.  We thank God everyday for Emma.

Emma at 4 Months:
- She giggled for the first time today
- Holds her head up
- She sits very well in her bumbo chair
- Officially wearing size 2 diapers
- Loves her Cookie Monster stuffed animal
- Doesn't enjoy tummy time
- Smiles a lot
- Sucks on her fingers
- Recently has started to grab at her feet
- She likes to grab her toys with her feet

This is one of the only pictures of Emma smiling!
The only person who could get Emma to smile was Lilly!

Looking at the beautiful tulips!

While holding the tulip Emma tried to put it in her mouth,
her facial expression said it didn't taste very good!

Hmmm, what are those and how do I put them in my mouth???

Thanks Michelle for blocking the sun!!!

3 Months Old

Sorry this is late, but I wanted to wait for Emma's 3 month pictures!  On May 4th Emma turned 3 months old and we can not believe how much she has grown.  Our friends recently had a little boy who weighed more than Emma at birth, but seems so small now compared to Emma.  I look back at pictures of Emma only a few weeks old and I can not believe how big she is already!  Kent and I have had so much fun watching Emma change over the past 3 months.

Emma at 3 Months:
- She loves to talk and growl
- Holds her head up while sitting and during tummy time
- She finally found her hands and loves to suck on them
- She likes to sit in her bumbo chair!  While visiting our friend Micah we put Emma in the bumbo chair and she absolutely loved it, so mommy had to buy one!
- Stares at her feet while sitting in her bouncy chair
- She loves to watch Walle
- Blows spit bubbles
- She likes to look at the pictures in books!
- She loves to watch TV (even though we try not to let her)
- She loves bath time
- Enjoys listening to mommy sing - You Are My Sunshine
- Smiles when mommy kisses her feet

Things we LOVE:
- Mommy likes to rock Emma
- Daddy likes to read stories to Emma
- Mommy  loves to kiss Emma's feet
- We both love when we smile at Emma she smiles back
- Mommy likes that she is beginning to be able to hold Emma on her side
- We love that she can sit with us at the dinner table in her bumbo chair
- Daddy loves when Emma holds onto his finger
-  Most of all we love that we have such a healthy little girl!

Sick + Infant = HARD

Well, a week ago today I came down with a very bad flu like sickness.  We are still not sure what I had, but all I know it was absolutely awful!  This was the first time I have been sick and had to take care of Emma by myself and let me tell you it is not easy!  I am sure all you mom's out there already new this, but this has been one of my fears about being a mother!  How will I handle being really sick and having to take care of a child without Kent around?  Well, I did!  I felt really bad for Emma though since every time I moved my body hurt, so I did not hold her a bunch and I was afraid of giving her what I had.  Luckily I have the most amazing child.  Emma was very calm and patient with me while I was sick and I am so thankful she has not come down with what I had.  I also am very thankful for my wonderful husband who came home his first day of work to a very messy house, no dinner, and a very sick wife and still took care of me!  He also brought me flowers to cheer me up!  I am so lucky to have such a beautiful daughter and a very loving and patient husband!!!!  I love you very much and thank God for you and Emma every day!

The beautiful flowers Kent bought me!
