7 Months

Well, we can not believe that Emma is 7 months old.  She has grown so much in the past month.  She is sitting up by herself and has been working on get up on her hands and knees.  She is able to get half way up, but she then does a nose dive.  She is not quite sure how to balance her weight yet.  Emma also loves to give daddy raspberries or at least her version of raspberries.  She is very interested in her tongue and mouth.  For the past 3 weeks she has been working really hard at making motor boat sounds with her tongue and lips.  She has finally figured it out and loves it when we make noises with her.  She is still very fascinated with Walle, but he has learned to sit right outside of her reach.  I am pretty sure Walle will hate it when Emma starts crawling since Emma will be able to follow him when he moves away from her.

On our trip to Newport for Labor Day Emma discovered how much she loves sand!  Usually when she gets a new toy or finds something new to grab she immediately puts it in her mouth.  So, of course I was a little hesitant letting her play in the sand.  Well she proved me wrong.  She played in the sand for almost 15 minutes before she decided to put some in her mouth and even then it wasn't so bad.  It was actually really funny to watch her reaction.  So far Emma's favorite activities are swimming and playing in the sand.  Not sure what she will do when we have to move away from the ocean and the beach. Below are a few pictures of our trip to Newport and our adventures on the beach!

Crater Lake

A few weekends ago my dad came down to Corvallis to visit and took us to Crater Lake for the weekend.  It was Emma's second time camping and according to Kent this was Emma's first official camping trip at a campground.  She toughed it out in the freezing temperatures during the night.  The cold did not seem to bother her at all.  When she woke up though her hands felt like icicles.  My dad signed us up for a boat tour of the crater where we hiked down into the crater which was equivalent to hiking down 65 flights of stairs, riding around the crater in a boat and stopping at Wizard Island for 3 hours to explore.  Kent and I were amazed out how blue the water was.  It was absolutely gorgeous.  This was also the first time Emma used her hiking backpack.  We were not sure if she would like it, but she did great and enjoyed being up high.  On our last day we drove around the lake and stopped at all of the view points and then had lunch at the gift shop.  It was a great camping trip and we will definitely go back someday!

Cannon Beach

Well, for our 2nd anniversary Kent took Emma and I to Cannon Beach, Oregon.  I had never been there before and it was Emma's first time at the ocean.  We stayed at the Cannon Beach Inn, which was absolutely beautiful.  On our drive to Cannon Beach we stopped at the Tillamook Cheese Factory and took the self tour of the factory.  We got there just in time for lunch, so there was not a whole lot of cheese making going on.  But we did get to try some yummy ice cream and of course we bought squeaky cheese.  Once we were settled into our hotel room we went to dinner down town and then headed out to the beach for a little walk.  We spent most of Sunday going through the shops and spending time on the beach.  Emma seemed to really like putting her feet in the sand, but was not sure about the waves and cold water.  It was an amazing 2nd anniversary in a very beautiful place!

6 Months Old

Kent and I can not believe how much Emma has changed since 5 months and we are even more in shock that she is 6 months old.  On August 4th Emma decided it was time to learn how to sit without being supported by her bumbo chair or mommy/daddy.  It has been a nice change to have her sitting by herself.  She seems to enjoy viewing the world from an upright position.  Also, at 6 months Emma is sleeping from 8pm to 6:30/7am, which has been very nice.  She also has been trying lots of new foods, including peas, green beans, sweet potatoes, carrots, squash, and avacado.  Her favorite seems to be squash and her least favorite are peas.  She is also very into grabbing mommy's hair, earings, Walle's tail/fur, and jumping in her jungle jumperoo.  We can't believe how fast she is grown, but have enjoyed watching her change!

5 months/ 4th of July

Well after almost 2 months of not posting I finally have the time while Kent is actually home to use his phone's internet.  Some of you might notice I do no thave a 5 month posting with Emma's 5 month pictures, our friend had some troubles with his camera so we do not have her 5 month pictures, but since she was 5 months on July 4 we do have pictures from July 4.  It was an extremely busy weekend packing and moving, but we had lots of help from our parents.  Luckily we were all packed and moved July 2 so we got to enjoy the 4th at our friends Jeff and Jenny's BBQ and then the fireworks at Sunnyside Park!!!

Dworshak

Last weekend Kent and I went boating with our home group.  We were originally suppose to go boating in Hells Canyon, but with the river being really high it was decided we would go to Dworshak instead.  We had tons of fun.  It was an absolutely gorgeous day, not too hot and not too cold.  Kent's sister came over and babysat Emma for us, so we could enjoy a day in the water.  We are so thankful that she was able to come over.  It was nice to spend a day with Kent and our friends.  Hopefully when Emma is a little older we will be able to take her with us.  Thanks Mike and Lauren for taking us out on your boat and for the delicious lunch.  Thank you to our home group for a great time.  Kent and I are so grateful to have such wonderful friends and are excited that we get to continue to attend our home group!

Who wouldn't be smiling on such a beautiful day!

Father's Day

Well, Kent's first Father's Day did not go as I had hoped.  Emma and I were going to get up and make Kent breakfast in bed, then we were suppose to go to church, then enjoy burgers at the church Father's Day BBQ, and to top the day off I thought we could go for a drive and go shooting (something Kent loves to do).  But, apparently that is not how we were suppose to spend Father's Day.  Instead the truck broke down on Friday, so we couldn't go shooting, then I got sick yesterday, and then Walle came home last night with a big gash in his leg.  So, Kent spent his first Father's Day taking care of me and running Walle to the emergency WSU Vet Hospital.  Even though we did not get to do the things we had originally planned  it was nice to spend some time with Kent and Emma at home before Kent leaves.  Emma and I are so grateful to have Kent in our lives.  Even though this was suppose to be his day to relax he took care of us without any complaints.  We love you Kent very much and appreciate everything you do for us.  Happy Father's Day Kent!!!

Happy Father's Day Daddy!! I love you!
